WisDOT holding public involvement meeting on WIS 35 project

Proposed work from County I to WIS 35 to address deteriorating pavement
Release date: October 5, 2026

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a public involvement meeting to share details about a proposed pavement improvement project on WIS 35 from County I at the Polk/St. Croix County line to WIS 243 in Osceola, all in Polk County.

  • When: 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7
  • Where: Farmington Town Hall, 2647 30th Ave., Osceola

The pavement on this 7.75-mile segment of WIS 35 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, WisDOT is proposing:

  • Milling off a portion of the existing pavement, crushing the millings, mixing them with stabilizing agents, paving the mixture back on the road, compacting it and later overlaying it with hot-mix asphalt
  • Replacing culverts and storm sewer
  • Replacing curb and gutter at spot locations
  • Upgrading sidewalk curb ramps

During construction, WIS 35 will remain open to most operations using daytime lane closures controlled by flagging. WIS 35 will be closed to through traffic for approximately four weeks during milling and paving operations to minimize construction time. Through traffic will be detoured via County M, WIS 65 and WIS 64, and access to homes and businesses in the work zone will be maintained.

Those unable to attend the public involvement meeting are invited to go to the project website, review information about the proposed work and submit comments by Nov. 7, 2026, by:
