Bong Bridge rehab to result in sidewalk, ramp and road closure

Sidewalk across the bridge to be closed for three weeks, starting November 3

Sidewalk from Susquehanna Avenue in Superior across the bridge to West Michigan Street in Duluth will be closed from Monday to Monday, November 3-24 because of work on the Bong Bridge rehabilitation project.

Work on the bridge, which carries US 2 over the St. Louis River between Superior and Duluth, also will result in the following road and ramp closures on the Minnesota side of the bridge:

  • Ramp from westbound US 2 to northbound I-35: Closed from 5 a.m. Monday, October 27 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 29.
  • South 46th Street West to eastbound US 2: Closed from 5 a.m. Thursday, October 30 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 31 and 5 a.m. Monday, November 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 5.
  • Southbound I-35 ramp to eastbound US 2: Closed 5 a.m. Monday, November 10 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 12.
  • Northbound I-35 ramp to eastbound US 2: Closed 5 a.m. Thursday, November 13 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 14.
