Details
This three-span bridge is in the town of Ludington. It is oriented on a north/south axis and consists of a center steel Warren overhead truss span with outer steel deck girder spans. The bridge supports two-way traffic and carries County D over the Eau Claire River, northeast of the village of Fall Creek within a densely forested area. The center span is a steel, riveted, Warren overhead truss with a polygonal top chord. The outer steel deck girder spans are 41 feet in length, making the overall structure length 262 feet.
History
In 1948, construction began on a larger and taller bridge along County D over the Eau Claire River, and it was completed in mid-1949. The work was performed by the L.G. Arnold company of Eau Claire. The company was prolific and completed numerous projects with the State Highway Commission, including grading and paving of highways and construction of bridges.
