I-39, WIS 34 to 2nd St. N, Portage and Marathon Counties

Location

I-39 southbound

  • WIS 34 to US 10, (South bound construction)
  • US 10 to 2nd St. N, (North and South bound-Remarking only)

Project Overview

  • The purpose of this project is to restore the deteriorated existing I-39 pavement and other roadway items within the corridor. Proposed improvements include repairing or replacing failing concrete pavement, routing, and sealing concrete and asphalt joints, resurfacing existing asphalt shoulders and existing asphalt pavement on County DB between the ramp terminals, patching centerline markers, replacing right of way fencing at three bridges, replace existing guardrail, and repair or replace culvert end walls or end sections at designated locations. No changes to the number of lanes or existing roadway geometry are proposed.
  • Remarking of the North and South bound lanes from US 10 to 2nd Street North will bring up markings to current standards.

Traffic Impacts

I-39 will be open during construction with single lane closures and shoulder closures. The repairs on the south bound ramps at County DB and US 10 will require short term ramp closures and traffic will be detoured.
