Location
WIS 64, Wolf River Bridge and South Branch Oconto River Bridge, Langlade County
Project Overview
The project involves improvements for two bridges on WIS 64. The Wolf River bridge will be replaced with a new bridge structure. This new bridge will include a recreational path for snowmobile and ATV/UTV traffic. Some work within the Wolf River is anticipated for the removal of the existing structure and the installation of the new pier. The South Brach Oconto River bridge will remain in place, with repairs to the concrete approach slabs and guardrail.
Traffic Impacts
Construction is planned to be done in two stages. Stage 1 will consist of both lanes operating as existing, while the recreational path and bridge section is constructed. During Stage 2, traffic will utilize the recreational path, reducing the traffic to one-lane. Temporary signals will be utilized for a single-lane bypass of the construction zone at each bridge. A Pedestrian Detour Plan will be operationalized to direct recreational boaters to portage around the Wolf River bridge during construction.
Real Estate
The project will require some temporary limited easements.
