WIS 32 / Ashland Avenue is a major arterial that connects I-41 and Ashwaubenon to downtown Green Bay. This study will evaluate options to address the condition of the roadway and structures between 9th Street and WIS 54/Mason Street, which includes the 730-foot-long steel girder bridge over 6th Street and the vacant Canadian National rail yard and the 114-foot-long slab span structure over 5th Street.

Parking: Parking will be on the west side of the entrance to Tundra Lodge with access from Lombardi Avenue and Bart Starr Drive. There is a convenient entrance to the conference center directly from the parking lot.
A formal WIS 32/Ashland Study presentation will begin at 5:15 p.m. The study team will share the project progress, including the information we have collected and analyzed through the data gathering stage of the study. The meeting will be conducted in an open-house format, providing an opportunity for one-on-one discussions with members of the project team.
Study location
The study area encompasses approximately 0.6 miles of WIS 32 / Ashland Avenue on the city of Green Bay’s west side from 9th Street to WIS 54 / Mason Street.
Study need
The purpose of the study is to address the condition of the WIS 32 / Ashland Avenue roadway, the bridge spanning over the Canadian National Railroad rail yard and 5th Street roadway, and the adjacent retaining walls. The project needs are anticipated to be the following:
- Bridge condition>
- Safety conditions
- Bicycle and pedestrian accommodations
Proposed concepts to be studied are:
- No build

- At-grade alternative
- Bridge replacement with identical span and geometry
- Refined span and geometry
The study phase of the project will complete the required National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) document and identify a preferred alternative that will move forward in design and construction.
Schedule
- 2024 to 2026 – Study Phase
- 2027 – Preliminary Design
- 2028 to 2030 – Real Estate, Utilities & Final Design
- 2031 – Construction
