Bridges (Various highways) - Chippewa, Eau Claire, Pepin, Pierce, St. Croix and Trempealeau counties

Location

The proposed project includes structures in the following counties:

  • Chippewa County:
    • WIS 124: Southbound bridge over Duncan Creek in the city of Chippewa Falls.
  • Eau Claire County:
    • WIS 312: Eastbound bridge over railroad tracks east of US 12 in Eau Claire.
    • US 12: Southbound bridge over WIS 312 in Eau Claire
  • Pepin County:
    • US 10: Bridge over Eau Galle River overflow between Arkansaw and Durand
  • Pierce County:
    • US 10/63: Bridge over Isabelle Creek on the eastern edge of Ellsworth
  • St. Croix County
    • WIS 65: Bridge over a branch of Kinnickinnic River northwest of River Falls
    • WIS 29: Bridge over Cady Creek northwest of Spring Valley
    • WIS 35: Southbound bridge over Quarry Road north of River Falls
    • WIS 35: Northbound bridge over Kinnickinnic River north of River Falls
  • Trempealeau County:
    • WIS 93: Bridge over Turton Creek north of Arcadia

Overview

To extend the service lives of the structures, WisDOT is proposing to:

  • Replace wing walls on nine of the bridges.
  • Replace guardrail at some structures.
  • Place new pavement markings.

Schedule

Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.

Traffic Impacts

The highways will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter:

  • Long-term lane closures at bridges on WIS 124 southbound in Chippewa County; US 12 southbound and WIS 312 eastbound, Eau Claire County; and WIS 35 north- and southbound in St. Croix County.
    • Even though the work on the WIS 124 bridge will be occurring​ near the Riverfront Park Trail, access to the trail will be maintained at all times.
  • Single-lane closures controlled by temporary traffic signals at bridges on US 10 in Pepin County; US 10/63, Pierce County; WIS 65 and WIS 29, St. Croix counties; and WIS 93, Trempealeau County.
