Location
I-94 from the Trempealeau County line in the town of Garfield to WIS 95 in the village of Hixton, all in Jackson County.
Overview
The pavement on this close to 14-mile stretch of interstate is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the proposed Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will:
- Remove a portion of the existing pavement and place new asphalt pavement on I-94, the existing ramps at the I-94/WIS 121 interchange and WIS 121 between the interchange ramps.
- Make pavement repairs on the ramps at the I-94/WIS 95 interchange and WIS 95 between the interchange ramps.
- Replace guardrail to meet current design standards.
- Repair culvert pipes.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2030.
- Work could be advanced to 2028 if funding becomes available.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, I-94 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by flagging. In addition:
- The ramps at WIS 121 and WIS 95 will be closed at various times, and traffic will be detoured.
- Ramp closures at both interchanges will be staggered to keep one interchange always open.
