US 12/WIS 27 (Schoolhouse Creek) - Jackson County

Location

The bridge carries US 12/WIS 27 over Schoolhouse Creek south of the village of Fairchild in the Jackson County town of Cleveland.

Overview

Built in 1945, the bridge is nearing the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing:

  • Removing the existing deteriorating single-span steel girder bridge
  • Constructing a new single-span prestressed girder bridge
  • Reconstructing US 12 on both sides of the structure
  • Installing new guardrail

Schedule

Construction currently is scheduled for 2027.

Traffic Impacts

During construction, US 12 will be closed between County YY and County H. Through traffic, including large trucks, will be detoured using County YY, Front Street and County H.
