Location
US 63 from Charrie Lane on the north side of the city of Cumberland to the Washburn County line in Barron County.
Overview
US 63 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:
- Remove the top 3.25 inches of the existing pavement and overlaying the road with 3.25 inches of new asphalt.
- Repair or performing maintenance on culverts.
- Reconstruct curb ramps to Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance
- Place new pavement markings.
- Complete any other incidental work.
Real Estate
Temporary right-of-way acquisition will be needed to complete the project. The acquisition process will start in September 2024. For more information about landowners' rights, click on the following links to view in

Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2026.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flagging operations. In addition, temporary driveway closures will be necessary to complete construction, but property owners will be notified in advance of such a closure.
