Location
The project limits are US 8 from the Minnesota/Wisconsin state line in the city of St. Croix Falls east to Glacier Drive in the town of St. Croix Falls and WIS 35 from 450 feet north of Summit Street to 75 feet south of Maple Drive in the city of St. Croix Falls, all in Polk County.
Overview
The pavement on these segments of US 8 and WIS 35 have begun showing signs of deterioration. To address this and safety concerns for the US 8/WIS 87 intersection, the proposed project will:
- Mill 1 inch to 1 ¾ inches of the existing asphalt and concrete pavement and overlay the roadway with new asphaltic pavement
- Reconstruct the existing right-turn lane for westbound US 8 traffic at the WIS 87 intersection
- Replace, clean or repair select culverts and storm sewer inlets
- Replace the existing guardrail at the Interstate State Park Road overpass
- Perform maintenance on two sedimentation ponds
- Install new pavement markings and signage
Schedule
Construction is scheduled for 2029.
Traffic Impacts
US 8 and WIS 35 will remain open to traffic throughout construction using lane closures and staged construction. In addition, access to all properties in the work zone will be maintained.
