Location
This project on WIS 124 begins just north of County S in the town of Eagle Point and extends north to WIS 64 east of Bloomer in the towns of Woodmohr and Bloomer, all in Chippewa County.
Overview
The existing pavement on this segment of WIS 124 is deteriorating. To address that and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing:
- Milling off a portion of the pavement and placing new asphalt pavement
- Completing culvert work
- Making bridge improvements
- Cleaning ditches at select locations
- Upgrading guardrail
- Replacing pavement markings
Real Estate
Temporary limited easements and permanent right-of-way acquisition will be needed for sloping at culvert pipes being considered for installation at eight locations.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2029.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, WIS 64 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by flagging. Temporary traffic signals will reduce traffic to one lane between 115th Avenue and 140th Street.
Related Projects
This project is one of three introduced in 2020 to address deteriorating pavement on WIS 124. The other segments include:
- 8610-02-74: Bridge Street to High Street in Chippewa Falls
- Construction on this project began in 2025; traffic signal upgrades as part of that project will occur in 2026.
- 8610-08-73: High Street in Chippewa Falls to County S in the town of Eagle Point
