WIS 13 (Price County line to Morse Road), town of Chippewa to town of Gordon - Ashland County

Location

Three projects are planned on 17.4 miles of WIS 13 between the Price County line in the town of Chippewa to Morse Road in the town of Gordon, all in Chippewa County.

Overview

The pavement and structures on this segment are showing signs of deterioration. To address this, the Wisconsin Department is proposing three projects:

1610-00-01 (71): Price County Line to Morse Road

  • Replacing, resetting, extending or abandoning existing culvert pipes and constructing a new box culvert at Becky Creek.
    • Temporary easements will be required for this work.
  • Making concrete surface repairs at the bridge over Dryden Creek northwest of Glidden, patching the deck on the bridge over the Chippewa River southeast of Glidden and overlaying the deck with concrete on the bridge over Butternut Creek south of Butternut.
  • Replacing guardrail at the structures and one other location in the project limits.

1610-01-08 (78): Weeping Willow Lane to East Mack Street

  • Replacing the pavement on WIS 13 on the 0.29-mile section in Glidden.
  • Replacing curb, gutter, pavement markings, sidewalk, sidewalk curb ramps, signs and storm sewer.

The town of Jacobs also intends to replace sanitary sewer and water utilities.

1610-01-12 (82): Price County Line to Morse Road

  • Removing two inches of the existing pavement on WIS 13 and side road intersections and placing two inches of new asphalt pavement.
  • Installing centerline rumble strips.
  • Replacing pavement markings.

Schedule

Construction is scheduled for 2026 on 1610-00-01 (71) and 2027 for 1610-01-08 (78) and 1610-01-12 (82).

Traffic Impacts

Traffic control will vary by project.

  • 1610-00-01 (71): Flagging will be used to complete bridge work, temporary signals will be used to control traffic at the box culvert construction site, and lane closures will be used to complete remaining work.
  • 1610-01-08 (78): Lane closures controlled by flagging, along with short-term detour routes, will be used to complete work.
  • 1610-01-12 (82): Lane closures controlled by flagging will be used to complete work.
