WIS 35 (Riverview Drive South to Buffalo River Bridge) and WIS 37 (WIS 35 to County F), city and town of Alma - Buffalo County

Location

The proposed project in Buffalo County includes improvements on:

  • WIS 35 from the south junction of Riverview Drive to the Buffalo River Bridge in the city of Alma.
  • WIS 37 from its intersection with WIS 35 in the city to just north of County F in the town of Alma.

Overview

To address deteriorated pavement on both segments and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing:

  • Removing 1.5 inches of the existing pavement and placing 1.5 inches of new asphalt pavement
  • Cleaning culverts and ditches
  • Replacing culverts and areas of guardrail
  • Installing new guardrail on WIS 37 to address steep slopes
  • Adjusting, repairing or replacing damaged or obsolete guardrail
  • Repairing embankments
  • Installing a new sidewalk curb ramp near the north Alma city limits
  • Replacing the concrete approach slabs and railing, and placing a sealant on the Buffalo River Bridge
  • Replacing pavement markings

Knowing construction impacts businesses, WisDOT has created the In This Together program to help business owners navigate construction projects.

Schedule

Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.

Traffic Impacts

WIS 35 and WIS 37 will remain open during construction, but motorists will encounter:

  • Single-lane closures controlled by temporary traffic signals for work at the Buffalo River Bridge and single-lane closures controlled by flagging for the remaining work.
