WIS 73 (Crazy Horse Creek and Fisher River culverts), town of Lawrence and town of Cleveland - Rusk and Taylor counties

Location

The proposed improvement project is on WIS 73 at Crazy Horse Creek in the Rusk County town of Lawrence and the Fisher River in the Taylor County town of Cleveland.

Overview

The structures at both locations are nearing the ends of their service lives. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing the following at:

• Crazy Horse Creek
• Removing the three 6-by-9-foot metal culverts
• Constructing a three-cell concrete box culvert
• Grading side slopes to match the new culvert
• Restoring the pavement and pavement markings at the culvert site
• Fisher River
• Removing the existing 16-foot concrete culvert
• Constructing a single-cell box culvert
• Removing the existing guardrail
• Grading side slopes to match the new culvert
• Replacing the culvert under Hooker Road
• Restoring the pavement and pavement markings at the culvert site

Schedule

Construction is scheduled for 2028.

• Estimated to take approximately three months to complete, construction at both locations is anticipated to occur at the same time.

Traffic Impacts

During construction, WIS 73 will be closed at each culvert work area.

• Through traffic will be detoured via WIS 64, WIS 27 and US 8.
• Detour map
• Access will remain open for local and emergency traffic between work areas.
• Access will remain open to Hooker Road, which is located within the Fisher River work zone.
