Location
The project on WIS 77 begins at the Minnesota state line and extends to WIS 35 South in Danbury, all in Burnett County.
Overview
The existing pavement on WIS 77 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:
- Pulverize the existing pavement, mix it with stabilizing agents and place a new layer of asphalt over it
- Widen paved shoulders to 5 feet
- Reshape gravel shoulders
- Resurface parking along WIS 77 in Danbury
- Replace four culvert pipes at existing locations
- Clean ditches at culvert locations
- Replace or update sidewalk curb ramps
- Replace all existing pavement markings
Real Estate
Temporary limited easements will be needed for curb ramp work.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2028, but work could occur as early as 2027 if funding becomes available.
Traffic Impacts
During the construction, WIS 77 will remain open for most traffic, but:
- Motorists will encounter daytime lane closures controlled by flagging.
- Truck traffic will be detoured via WIS 35, WIS 35/70, WIS 70, MN 70, I-35, MN 48 and WIS 48.
