Location
The proposed improvement project includes two bridges carrying WIS 79 over the south fork of the Hay River in the town of Tiffany and Tiffany Creek in Boyceville, all in Dunn County.
Overview
Built in 1945 and 1955 respectively, the bridges are showing signs of deterioration and in need of maintenance. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing the following at:
- South Fork Hay River Bridge:
- Replacing the bridge deck
- Making concrete surface repairs on bridge abutments and wing walls
- Cleaning and painting bearings
- Completing spot painting on bridge girders
- Placing new asphalt on either side of the bridge
- Replacing guardrail and pavement markings
- Tiffany Creek Bridge:
- Overlaying the bridge deck with concrete
- Replacing joints
- Making concrete surface repairs on abutments
- Cleaning and painting bearings
- Completing spot painting on bridge girders
- Removing a portion of the existing pavement on either side of the bridge and placing new asphalt pavement
- Replacing pavement markings
In addition, crews will be removing brush and tree trimming at the following rail crossings - 692991H on WIS 79, 692993W on Center Street and 693002B on 130th Street. Roadway widening also is planned for the latter crossing.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2029.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, motorists will encounter the following at each structure:
- South Fork Hay River Bridge: WIS 79 will be closed, and traffic will be detoured. The proposed route is WIS 170, WIS 128 and WIS 64.
- Tiffany Creek Bridge: WIS 79 will be restricted to a single lane controlled by temporary traffic signals.
In addition:
- Access to business and residences will be maintained.
- Access to WIS 79 from Tiffany Street will be closed.
- Access to Tiffany Street from WIS 79 will be right-turn only.
- 130th Street will have a detour during roadway widening operations.
- Detour route: WIS 170 to 1010th Avenue.
Public Involvement
WisDOT is holding a public involvement meeting to share details of the proposed project and obtain comments.
