WIS 98 (Bear Creek Bridge), city of Loyal - Clark County

Location

The Bear Creek Bridge on WIS 98 is on the north side of the Clark County city of Loyal.

Overview

Built in 1920, the structure is nearing the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:

  • Remove the existing bridge.
  • Construct a new single-span concrete girder bridge with sidewalks from WIS 98/County K to the east end of the bridge.
  • Reconstruct approach pavement on both sides of the structure to accommodate drainage and provide a smooth ride onto the new bridge.
  • Remove existing guardrail.

Real Estate

Permanent and temporary right-of-way acquisition will be necessary to complete construction. WisDOT expects to begin acquisition in summer 2025.

In This Together

Knowing construction projects impact businesses, WisDOT created the In This Together program to guide owners through the construction process.

Schedule

Construction is currently scheduled for 2027.

Traffic Impacts

During construction, WIS 98 will be closed.

  • Through traffic will be detoured via WIS 73, County H and County Y.
