Overview

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing to resurface approximately 1 mile of WIS 67 from N. Lincoln Street to US12 in the City of Elkhorn in Walworth County. Proposed improvements include:

  • Resurface the roadway, including pavement repairs
  • Replace traffic signals at Market Street
  • Upgrade curb ramps to American with Disability Act (ADA) standards
  • US 12 bridge repairs and deck sealing with beam guard upgrades

WisDOT studied a proposed road diet on WIS 67 (N. Lincoln Street to US 12), which would have reduced the roadway from four lanes to two and added paved shoulders for bike use. Based on public comments, the lack of local plans for bike accommodations along this corridor, and limited evidence of need, WisDOT has determined this option will not move forward.

Schedule

Construction is anticipated to start in summer of 2031 and could advance to 2029 if funding is available.

Public Involvement

WisDOT held a public involvement meeting on Oct. 22, 2025 at the Elkhorn Administration Offices for the public to learn more about the proposed improvements, get questions answered, and provide input to the project team. Further comments and questions can be shared with the project staff below.
