Project Overview
This project will make various improvements along approximately four (4) miles of I-94, between County Q and County Y, including the replacement of the bridge structures over the Rock River and Crawfish River in Jefferson County.
Proposed Improvements
This project will replace the four I-94 bridge structures over the Rock River and Crawfish River. The new bridges will be built with three lanes to accommodate the future potential widening of I-94.
This project will also raise the I-94 roadway to prevent any future potential flooding. The westbound roadway will be raised by 3 to 5 feet near the bridges and the eastbound roadway will be raised by 1 to 2 feet near the bridges.
Proposed Traffic Impacts
- I-94 will remain open to at least one lane of traffic in both directions during construction.
- Access to the rest area (Rest Area 14) along westbound I-94 will be closed during construction of the westbound lanes.
- The project plans will also address traffic control measures for watercraft on the Rock and Crawfish Rivers during the bridge replacement work.
Real Estate
Additional right-of-way may be required.
Schedule
Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027 and last until fall 2028.
