I-90 bridges, Oakdale to Mauston - Juneau and Monroe counties

Project overview

The purpose of this project is to address bridge deficiencies and preform preventative maintenance on 8 bridges along I-90/94. The proposed work would restore the condition of the bridges and extend their service life.

Proposed work includes:

  • County PP bridge over I-90/94 at Oakdale
    • Remove and replace the polymer overlay to the bridge driving surface and multi-use path
    • Repair concrete at bridge driving surface, piers, pier caps north abutment and south abutment
    • Epoxy inject
    • Clean and paint bearings
    • Spot clean and paint bridge
    • Repair expansion joint
    • Replace concrete pavement approach slabs
  • I-90/94 Eastbound bridge over Lemonweir River east of New Lisbon
    • Remove and replace polymer overlay to bridge driving surface
    • Repair concrete west abutment, pier caps and girders
    • Clean and paint bearings on I-90/94 westbound bridge
    • Repair concrete at bridge deck driving surface on I-90/94 westbound bridge
  • I-90/94 Westbound over County G east of Mauston
    • Apply thin polymer overlay to bridge driving surface
  • I-90/94 bridges over WIS 82 at Mauston
    • Apply thin polymer overlay to bridge driving surface
  • I-90/94 Eastbound bridge over Lemonweir River west of Mauston
    • Apply thin polymer overlay to bridge driving surface
    • Repair concrete at top of rail on I-90/94 eastbound bridge

Schedule

  • Fall 2026 - Anticipated Public Involvement Meeting
  • Spring/summer 2032 - Construction anticipated, advanceable to 2031

Traffic impacts/detours

I-90/94 will have nightly lane closures at bridge locations while proposed work is being performed. County PP will be reduced to a single lane of traffic with the use of temporary traffic control signals.
