US 51/Center Avenue ​(Nicolet Street to Court Street) Janesville - Rock County

Project overview

Approximately 1.3 miles of US 51 is planned for pavement replacement between Nicolet Street and McKinley Street in the City of Janesville. Other improvements proposed in this project include:

  • Updating the traffic signal equipment
  • Updating curb ramps to meet American Disability Act (ADA) requirements
  • Maintaining the Rock River Bridge
  • Repairing two railroad bridges
  • Replacing City funded sanitary sewer and water main
  • Replacing impacted storm sewer
  • ​Updating the pavement markings

Schedule

Traffic impacts/detours

US 51 will be closed to through traffic during construction. A signed detour will be in route traffic around the work zone. Local traffic will be able to access US 51 throughout​ construction.
