US 51 (Black Bridge Road to US 14), Janesville - Rock County
Project overview
The purpose of the project is to address the following needs for this section of US 51:
- The deteriorated pavement has reached the end of its service life.
- A retaining wall along the project has deteriorated past the point of restoration.
- Guardrail along the project is of substandard design.
The proposed improvements include the following:
- Remove all existing pavement and replace with new asphaltic pavement.
- Update guardrail to current standards.
- Replace the wingwalls on the US 51 Bridge over County F.

- November 6, 2024 - Public Involvement Meeting
- October 23, 2024 - Local Official Meeting
- Summer 2029 - Construction anticipated
Traffic impacts/detours
US 51 will be closed and detoured for the duration of construction utilizing US 14 and WIS 26.
