Project location
WIS 131 (US 14 to WIS 56), Readstown to Viola - Vernon County
Project overview
WisDOT is preparing plans for the proposed project along 7.5 miles of WIS 131 from US 14 to WIS 56. The project is needed to preserve the roadway segment of WIS 131 by addressing pavement and structure condition, maintenance issues and safety concerns. Improvements include:
- Milling existing surface and overlaying with new asphalt
- Replacing curb ramps
- Replacing substandard guardrail
- Flattening horizontal curve just south of the Kickapoo High School
- Repairing the structures between East River Road and County U
- Replacing the structure just south of WIS 56

Traffic impacts/detours
WIS 131 will remain open under flagging operations and shoulder closures.
Bridge work will take place under a full closure and detour utilizing US 14 and WIS 56.
