Project overview

The purpose of the project is to address the existing deteriorating pavement which is exhibiting various forms of cracking. The proposed improvements include:

  • Removal and replacement of existing asphalt pavement overlay
  • Spot curb and gutter repair/replacement
  • Spot replacement of the underlying concrete pavement
  • Concrete pavement joint repair
  • Spot storm sewer structure repairs
  • ADA curb ramp replacement
  • New pavement marking
  • Repair deteriorating storm sewer structures at various locations

Schedule

  • March 6, 2026 - Business Meeting
  • 2028 - Construction anticipated, could be as early as 2027 if an advanceable date is selected

Traffic impacts/detours

This project will take place in three stages:

Stage 1 will complete work in both the eastbound and westbound lanes from S Kinney Coulee intersection to the east. This work will be complete by utilizing lane closures. There will always be at least one lane in each direction open to traffic the entire length of the project.

Stage 2 will complete work in the existing eastbound lanes from WIS 157 to S Kinney Coulee intersection. Eastbound and westbound WIS 16 traffic will be detoured utilizing I-90 and WIS 157. One lane of eastbound traffic for local businesses, not through traffic, will be maintained in the existing westbound lanes.

Stage 3 will complete work in the existing westbound lanes from WIS 157 to S Kinney Coulee intersection. Eastbound and westbound traffic will be detoured utilizing I-90 and WIS 157. One lane of eastbound traffic for local businesses, not through traffic, will be maintained in the newly constructed eastbound lanes.
