Project overview

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is developing preliminary plans for a pavement resurfacing project on WIS 44 in Columbia County. The 6 mile project is located between WIS 33 near Marcellon and the Columbia County Line at County HH near Dalton.

Proposed improvements include:
  • 3.5-inch resurfacing (remove/replace top 3.5 inches)
  • Replace guardrail end treatments as needed
  • Culvert improvements as needed including lining or replacement

Schedule

  • 2026 - Construction anticipated

Traffic impacts/detours

WIS 44 will be closed and detoured for duration of construction, utilizing WIS 33, WIS 73, and WIS 44.

  • Potential for short term closure to repair some culvert pipes
