Project location

WIS 78 (US 14 to US 12), Black Earth to Sauk City - Dane County

Project overview

The purpose of this project is to improve WIS 78 between WIS 14 and US 12 in Dane County. The project begins at the intersection of US 14, near the village of Mazomanie, and extends north approximately 7.8 miles to US 12 near the village of Sauk City. The existing pavement is deteriorated with extensive cracking and rutting. Proposed roadway improvements include pavement resurfacing and upgrading guardrail to current standards. The pavement improvement will primarily consist of milling 2 inches of the asphalt pavement and replacing it with 2 inches of asphalt pavement. The pavement marking will be replaced and centerline and shoulder rumble strips will be installed in some locations as a safety design treatment.
