WIS 29/County VV Interchange Project Proposed Schedule
Brown County recently received approval of a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) BUILD I Grant for construction of this project. WisDOT is working closely with FHWA, Brown County, and local municipalities on developing a schedule for construction of the interchange. Once a project schedule has been finalized, updates to the website will be made accordingly. The current schedule is as follows:

- Final Project Plans - May 2020
- Project Letting - September 2020
- Utility Relocates - Late 2020 to early 2021

Construction Schedule and Traffic Impacts
The project will be built in stages to maintain access to businesses and residents. While the goal is to maintain access as much as possible, access may be limited to or from one direction. Below is a proposed schedule. There may be modifications to the below staging, due to the selected contractor's means and methods. Construction is expected to begin in April 2021.
Stage 1 (April 2021 – October 2021)
Work Anticipated
- Soil mitigation and large fills (including overpass and ramps)
- Evergreen Avenue roadway and pond construction
- Marley Street/Evergreen Avenue roundabout construction
- Millwood Court intersection construction and County VV pond construction
- The connection roadway to North Overland Road and pond construction
- North Overland Road roundabout to be constructed by village of Hobart
- Temporary connection between WIS 29 and Evergreen Avenue
Traffic impacts
- WIS 29 open to traffic
- No lane closures and Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) remain open
- County VV (Triangle Drive) open to traffic
- County U open to traffic
- Access to WIS 29, from the north during this stage, will either be from the Old Milltown Road connection, or a new temporary connection to Evergreen Avenue
Stage 2 (November 2021 – April 2022)
Work Anticipated
- Bridge construction
- Winter shut down of roadway work
Traffic Impacts
- WIS 29 lane closures
- West RCUT closed (for remainder of project)
Stage 3 (April 2022 – September 2022)
Work Anticipated
- Bridge construction
- Roadway construction including storm sewer on large fills
- Median Grading and guardrail around bridge pier
- Construct ramp matches to WIS 29
- Complete North Overland Road cul-de-sac
- Marley Street north of Millwood Court to be constructed by Brown County
- County VV roundabout
- Finish any remaining roadway construction
Roadways that will open during State 3
- Evergreen Avenue
- Temporary connection from Evergreen Avenue to WIS 29
- County VV from North Overland Road east to WIS 29
- County U
Full interchange opens to traffic in September 2022.
Stage 4 (September 2022 – October 2022)
Work Anticipated
- County U and WIS 29 intersection
- Remove RCUTS
- Construct North County Line Road connection to Old 29 Road
Remove County U intersection - Remove County U between WIS 29 and Glendale Avenue
Construction is expected to be complete by October 2022, pending weather.
