National Summer Transportation Institute

​U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) educational initiative designed to introduce secondary school students to all modes of transportation and related careers and to encourage them to pursue transportation-related courses of study at the collegiate level.

The annual event is only open to students recruited through two tribal colleges, College of the Menominee Nation (CMN) and Lac Courte Oreille Ojibwa Community College (LCOOCC) programs.

(LCOOCC 2009) - NSTI students visited the WisDOT Northwest Region, Superior Office to learn about the many aspects of WisDOT.

Students above discussed the electrician career opportunities within WisDOT and checked out the new LED traffic lights. Students enjoyed a tour of the facility as well as speaking to specific employees in the materials lab, surveying and engineering departments.
