Study Overview
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a planning and environmental linkages (PEL) study exploring potential changes to the vicinity of the I-43 National Avenue Interchange in Milwaukee County. The purpose of this study is to evaluate alternatives that address safety and operational conditions and better connect the surrounding area. This study is a response to community calls to address safety at the ramps and better connect the area.

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback during the first two phases of the study. The first public meeting was held on November 12, 2025, focused on community visioning. The second public meeting was held on June 3, 2026, where attendees reviewed and commented on concepts.
Join us on November 18, 2026, for the third public involvement meeting! The open-house style meeting will feature the following materials about refined design alternatives being considered and study recommendations for potential changes to the interchange, and WisDOT staff will be available to answer questions and hear your feedback.
