Overview
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a planning and environmental linkages (PEL) study that will explore redesigning the I-43/I-94 National Avenue Interchange, or I-43 at National Avenue, in Milwaukee.
Note: the I-43 at National Avenue ramps are being resurfaced in summer 2025 to extend the life of the ramps until full reconstruction. More details about 2025 resurfacing project

Public Input
Thank you to everyone who shared feedback during the community visioning phase of the I-43 at National Avenue study. A public meeting was held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, and a comment form was available from November 12 to December 15, 2025. We appreciate the thoughtful input from the community!
What’s next? This was the first of several opportunities to engage with the study. WisDOT is reviewing public input so far to help guide design considerations and community engagement efforts. Additional public meetings are anticipated in 2026.
