Established in 1991, the Local Roads Improvement Program (LRIP) assists local governments in improving seriously deteriorating county highways, town roads, and city and village streets. LRIP is a reimbursement program which pays up to 50% of total eligible costs, with local governments providing the balance.
LRIP projects are awarded every two years on a biennial budget cycle. The next biennial cycle is from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024. It is expected that new project applications can be submitted beginning in late September 2023. Contact your County Highway Commissioner for details.
The LRIPWeb online application is available for local government officials and County Highway Commissioners to:
- Apply for an LRIP project
- Access pending tasks via the "View My Work Queue" function
- Manage their approved LRIP projects
- View project documents
- Request reimbursement upon completion of their projects
To access LRIPWeb:
Beginning June 2020, there is a new procedure for accessing LRIPWeb. Access to LRIPWeb is now obtained through the new WisDOT Transportation Assistance System (TAS). The TAS system is the gateway to LRIPWeb and, in addition, provides authorized local government officials access to funding data pertaining to their transportation aids and improvement programs distributed through WisDOT. All current and new LRIPWeb users must complete a one-time registration to log-in to TAS and access LRIPWeb.
