Overview

This section between Stoughton and McFarland is divided into three stages.

US 51 from Roby Road to County B/AB in the city of Stoughton and towns of Rutland and Dunn. Improvements include:

  • Expand the existing 2-lane rural section between Roby Road and County B (east) to a 4-lane urban section
  • Provide a 10-foot wide sidewalk on both sides of US 51
  • Construct a roundabout at the Rutland-Dunn Townline Road intersection (chosen as preferred alternative after November 2021 Public Involvement Meeting)
  • Construct a pedestrian underpass north of the Rutland-Dunn Townline Road intersection
  • Construct a roundabout at the County B (east) intersection
  • Reconstruct the existing 2-lane rural section from County B (east) to County B/AB with a 2-lane rural section, a continuous median, and intersection improvements at each side road
  • Pave shoulders to accommodate bicycles

US 51 from County B/AB to Exchange Street in the town of Dunn. Improvements include:

  • Reconstruct the existing 2-lane rural section of US 51 with intersection improvements
  • Construct a roundabout at the Mahoney Road intersection (chosen as preferred alternative after September 2022 Public Involvement Meeting)
  • Pave shoulders to accommodate bicycles

US 51 from Tower Road to Exchange Street in the town of Dunn

  • Convert the existing stop controlled intersection to a dual-lane roundabout
  • Seeking input on the intersection control at Exchange Street and Tower Road
