Governor Evers approves WIS 44/73 and WIS 23 improvements in Green Lake County

Release date: February 16, 2023

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers today signed a $2.1 million contract to improve WIS 44/73, between County U and County T and WIS 23, between County T and County A (North Street), in the towns of Manchester, Princeton, Marquette and Green Lake. Work is scheduled to begin in May 2023.

Northeast Asphalt, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will resurface WIS 23 and repair or replace culverts along WIS 44/73 and WIS 23. Six culverts along WIS 44 and WIS 73 will be replaced. On WIS 23, five culverts will be replaced and five culverts will be lined. Additional improvements along WIS 23 include replacing three curb ramps to meet ADA standards, installing centerline and shoulder rumble strips, and new pavement marking.

During construction, WIS 44/73 and WIS 23 will be open to traffic. During daylight hours, one lane of traffic will be flagged around the construction operations. Two lanes of traffic will be open during nighttime hours. During shoulder work, curb ramp replacements and culvert lining work, shoulder closures will occur.

Construction is scheduled for completion by August 2023. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
