Governor Evers approves WIS 164 resurfacing and improvement project in Waukesha County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has approved a $2.98 million resurfacing and improvement project along WIS 164 (Big Bend Drive), between Henneberry Avenue and Denoon Road, Waukesha County. Musson Brothers, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Construction is scheduled to begin March 17. 


Improvements include: 

  • New asphalt pavement 
  • New aggregate base 
  • Improve subgrade in select locations 
  • Widen paved shoulders from three (3) feet to five (5) feet 
  • Add rumble strips along centerline and both shoulders 
  • Replace select cross culverts 
  • Replace guardrail 
  • New pavement markings 

Traffic Impacts and Detour: 

WIS 164 (Big Bend Drive) will be closed to through traffic within the work zone. Local and emergency access will be maintained throughout construction.
A detour will be posted utilizing WIS 36, WIS 83, and I-43.
Work is scheduled for completion in fall 2025. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
