To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has approved a multi-year $23.9 million pavement replacement and improvement project along WIS 59/US 18 (Les Paul Parkway), between Sunset Drive and Arcadian Drive in the city of Waukesha. Musson Brothers, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Work is scheduled to begin the week of May 12.
Improvements Include:
- Replace existing pavement within project limits
- Traffic flow improvements, including:
- Extend turn lanes at sunset Drive, Racine Avenue, and Broadway Street
- Add auxiliary lane from Racine Avenue to Broadway Street
- Addition of third northbound lane prior to Sunset Drive
- Intersection improvements and traffic signal replacement
- Removal of pedestrian underpass just south of Blackhawk Trail
- Remove/replace guardrail
- Replace storm sewer
Traffic Impacts:
This project will be completed in two segments. Construction on the northbound lanes will happen 2025. Construction on the southbound lanes will begin in 2026.
Traffic along WIS 59/US18 will be maintained in both directions by utilizing crossovers located at each end of the project limits.
The New Berlin Trail will be closed during construction.
Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained.
This project is scheduled for completion in late 2026. Work will be paused during the winter months. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
