Work on WIS 37 includes replacing pavement on both sides of structure and guardrail
Release date: June 1, 2023
To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $991,178 million contract with prime contractor Larson Construction Co. of Chippewa Falls for an improvement project replacing the bridge carrying WIS 37 over a branch of Trout Creek in the Buffalo County town of Alma northeast of the city of Alma. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, June 12.
Built in 1934, the existing structure has reached the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:
- Replace the bridge.
- Replace the pavement on both sides of the structure.
- Replace guardrail.
- Place new pavement markings.
During construction, WIS 37 will remain open to a single lane of traffic controlled by flaggers as a temporary bypass is built and then temporary traffic signals.
Construction is scheduled for completion in September.
