Release date: June 12, 2023
To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $2.17 million contract with prime contractor Sheet Piling Services of Custer for a project replacing the bridges carrying WIS 95 over Cisna Creek in the town of Alma and Halls Creek in Merrillan, all in Jackson County. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, June 19.
Built in 1942 and 1945 respectively, the Cisna and Halls Creek bridges have reached the end of their service lives. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:
- Replace the bridges.
- Replace the approach pavement on both sides of the structures.
- Install new guardrail.
- Place seed and fertilizer on the slopes surrounding the bridges to assist nearby growth.
- Place new pavement markings.
During construction, WIS 95 will be closed to traffic, with motorists detoured via US 12 and I-94.
Construction is scheduled for completion in November.
