WIS 29 construction complete in Kewaunee County

Work finishes ahead of schedule and on budget

Release Date: June 24, 2022

(Kewaunee) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces completion of all major construction to improve 11.7 miles of WIS 29 from the Brown/Kewaunee county line in the town of Montpelier to County C in West Kewaunee in Kewaunee County. Construction on the $3.94 million project began Monday, April 11, 2022 and finishes a few days ahead of schedule and on budget.

Construction included resurfacing of the roadway, widening paved shoulders, new rumble strips, culvert pipe replacement and signing/pavement marking. Northeast Asphalt, Inc. from Greenville, Wis. was the Prime Contractor.

Improvements provide a smoother and safer ride for motorists, extend the life of the pavement structure and reduce future maintenance costs. Repair and replacement of culverts help ensure adequate drainage to mitigate possible flooding.  Rumble strips alert errant vehicles leaving the lane of travel, and wider paved shoulders provide enhanced opportunity to correct the vehicle back into the proper lane of travel.
