WIS 64 to close temporarily to through traffic in city of Medford

Closure is result of work at the railroad crossing between Whelen Avenue, Main Street

Release date: July 2, 2024

WIS 64 in the Taylor County city of Medford will close to traffic Monday, July 8 for work at the railroad crossing between Whelen Avenue and Main Street and other work related to a WisDOT project.

The closure is expected to be in place through July 19, and through traffic will be detoured via WIS 64, County O and WIS 13.

Construction on a resurfacing project on WIS 64 from National Avenue to WIS 13 in the city of Medford and WIS 13 from County O in the town of Medford to Taylor Street in the city began in April. That project includes reconfiguring the WIS 13/64 intersection to better accommodate turning trucks and improve safety, along with replacing the traffic signals at the crossing and sidewalk curb ramps.

Construction is scheduled for completion in early August.
