Changes to signal operations at two Hudson intersections planned to address crash rate

Release date: July 15, 2024

Members of the public are invited to attend an information meeting prior to the start of a safety improvement project on Carmichael Road in the St. Croix County city of Hudson.

  • When: Noon Wednesday, July 24
  • Where: B & B Electric, 620 Commerce Drive, Hudson

To address high crash rates at the Carmichael Road intersections at Center Drive and Hanley Road, the city of Hudson-sponsored project will:

  • Change the signal operations to flashing yellow arrow left-turn operations on the north and south legs at both intersections and the east and west legs on the Center Drive intersection.
  • Replace signal heads.
  • Replace some pedestal poles.
  • Replace the traffic signal control cabinet at the Center Drive intersection.

Construction is scheduled to start Monday, Aug. 5, with project completion in early September.

During construction, Carmichael Road, Center Drive and Hanley Road will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures as work is completed.

B & B Electric is the prime contractor for the $198,559 project. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is overseeing the project on behalf of the Federal Highway Administration.
