WIS 57/County K intersection construction complete in Brown County

All lanes open with new turning movements

Release Date: September 1, 2022

(Green Bay) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces completion of construction to improve the WIS 57 intersection with County K in the town of Scott, Brown County. Work began in May of this year. The $2 million project finishes on budget.

This safety-improvement project constructed two Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) with extended turn lanes (median U-Turn) at the intersection. Motorists can make all turning movements using the new intersection median U-turn. The project removed cross traffic and left turns directly from County K and Bay Settlement Road (display map of new intersection below).

The intersection modifications qualified for federal Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) funding due to a high rate of crashes at the intersection. This unique RCUT intersection reduces the number and type of conflict points from 42 to 12, this in turn simplifies decision making for motorists. Motorists are able to make all turning movements. More information on can be found on the Restricted Crossing U-Turn website.
