Governor Evers approves second segment of I-41 rehabilitation project in Milwaukee County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has approved a $29 million rehabilitation project along I-41, from Silver Spring Drive to Good Hope Road in Milwaukee County. Zignego Company, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Work is scheduled to begin the week of September 22.

Improvements include:

  • Resurface existing pavement on I-41 within project limits
  • Resurface Good Hope Road between I-41 terminals
  • Various structure improvements, including:
    • Bridge repairs, overlays, and painting
    • Sign structure repairs and replacement
  • Beam guard and signal upgrades
  • Median inlet repairs
  • Spot barrier replacement

Traffic Impacts:

Long-term lane closures and overnight lane closures along I-41 within project limits.

  • During long-term lane closures, traffic will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes. Traffic will be reduced from three lanes to one lane only during overnight hours.

Overnight full freeway closures.

Ramp closures will take place as needed.

Schedule:

Work on this segment of the I-41 project is scheduled to be completed by late 2026. A construction shutdown is anticipated over the winter months.
