US 51, between Vilas County M to Vilas County W
Overview
The pavement on US 51 needs to be rehabilitated in order to preserve the integrity of the underlying base and provide a smooth riding surface. In addition, three culvert pipes are deteriorating and need to be replaced. Minor modifications will be made to a trail crossing on US 51 just southeast of County W to include detectable warning fields.
Traffic Impacts
It is anticipated that one-lane, two-way traffic will be maintained during the majority of construction by use of flaggers. The roadway will be open to two lanes of traffic at night. In addition, a temporary lane shift will be constructed at the culvert replacement area immediately to the west of Spider lake to accommodate two-way traffic during construction operations.
