US 41 Resurfacing

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing to improve 2.7 miles of US 41. We appreciate your input and encourage you take a moment to review the project information and provide comments.

Project location

The project begins on US 41 from approximately 2,800 feet west of Flame Road in the town of Peshtigo to near West Cleveland Avenue in the city of Marinette in Marinette County, Wisconsin.

Proposed improvements:

The proposed project is a resurface level improvement project. The purpose of the project is to improve the deteriorating pavement and drainage structures and to extend the roadway’s service life.

The project includes:

  • Concrete repair and asphalt resurfacing of mainline US 41
  • Replace guardrail
  • Replace culverts at three locations
  • Pavement markings
  • Adjust inlets where appropriate
  • Spot curb and gutter replacement

Traffic Impacts

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2024. If funds are available, the project could occur in 2023. During construction, the roadway will be open to traffic and US 41 will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction. Temporary driveway closures will be necessary during parts of the construction process. WisDOT will contact homeowners and businesses in advance before closing a driveway.

Real Estate

No right of way is anticipated as part of the project.

In This Together Program for Businesses

WisDOT recognizes businesses located in work zones have special needs. It is critical that customers have access to businesses and that they continue to visit them, regardless of any road work inconvenience. WisDOT's In This Together program is offered to business and community leaders as an idea source as they plan for road construction in their area, which includes:

A specially designed Business Coordination Guide for businesses to succeed during a highway construction project, including information on:

  • Planning ahead
  • Staying informed
  • Keeping customers informed
  • Tips for businesses
  • Case studies that demonstrate techniques that have been successfully used in communities throughout the state of Wisconsin.
  • Promotional samples showing a variety of examples of how businesses have promoted their businesses during construction.

During construction, temporary signing for business will be available. While signing and other marketing and advertising during the construction is up to the business, WisDOT encourages businesses to use the resources above to assist them with planning for construction before the construction begins.
