Location
The O'Neil Creek Bridge is located on WIS 178 in the Chippewa County town of Eagle Point between Chippewa Falls and Cornell.
Overview
The bridge is nearing the end of its service life and in need of a bridge replacement. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:
- Remove existing bridge and replace it with a new structure.
- Replace bridge approaches, roadway and shoulders.
- Install new guardrail and pavement markings.
Real Estate
The proposed improvement may require right-of-way acquisition in the form of temporary limited easements.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled to start in summer 2028.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, WIS 178 will be closed to through traffic and detoured, but access to residences and businesses will be maintained.
- The proposed detour route would be County S, WIS 124 and WIS 64.
