Location
The project on US 10 is located southeast of Ellsworth, and the second project is on WIS 65 is just north of Ellsworth, all in Pierce County.
Overview
US 10 culvert project
This project addresses two box culverts constructed in 1932 in the town of Salem that are showing signs of deterioration by:
- Repairing the wing walls on culvert C-47-236 and replacing guardrail at that location.
- Replacing culvert C-47-242, reconstructing the road where work is being completed, replacing the guardrail on the north side of the highway and removing guardrail on the south side.
WIS 65 culvert project
This project addresses two box culverts constructed in 1948 between River Falls and Ellsworth that are showing signs of deterioration by:
- Replacing culvert C-47-2, which carries a branch of Goose Creek under WIS 65 in the town of Ellsworth, reconstructing the roadway and removing guardrail.
- Replacing culvert C-47-5, which carries a branch of the south fork of the Kinnickinnic River under WIS 65 in the town of River Falls, reconstructing the roadway and removing guardrail.
Schedule
Construction of both projects currently is scheduled for 2026.
Traffic Impacts
US 10 culvert project
- During repair work at C-47-236, US 10 would remain open, with traffic directed around construction by flagging.
- During the replacement of C-47-242, US 10 would remain open, with temporary signals controlling a single lane of traffic in the work zone.
WIS 65 culvert project
- During the replacement of C-47-2 and C-47-5, WIS 65 would be closed, with traffic possibly detoured via US 10, US 63, WIS 29 and WIS 35.
