Location
The proposed project on southbound US 53 extends from County Y north to County M in the Douglas County town of Gordon.
Overview
The pavement on US 53 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this, WisDOT is proposing to:
- Repair the concrete pavement.
- Place a 4-inch asphalt overlay over the travels lanes and shoulders.
- Repair or replace culverts.
- Replace guardrail at the St. Croix River Bridge.
- Remove roadside brush and trees.
- Place pavement markings.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2027.
Traffic
During construction, US 53 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane and shoulder closures.
