Location
WIS 27 from WIS 29 in Cadott to Johnson Road on the south side of Cornell, all in Chippewa County.
Overview
The existing pavement is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the proposed Wisconsin Department of Transportation project would:
- Remove 2 inches of the existing pavement and then overlay the road surface with 2 inches of new asphaltic pavement.
- Widen the paved shoulders from three feet to six feet from 80th Avenue/North Road to 350 feet south of Johnson Road.
- Add centerline rumble strips.
- Replace the approaches and wing parapets on the west side of the Yellow River Bridge in Cadott.
- Replace the pedestrian underpass in Cadott, along with curb, gutter and sidewalk at spot locations.
- Extend the box culvert north of 135th Avenue in the town of Arthur and replace the structure's west wing wall.
- Brush the ends, clean and repair culverts in the project limits.
- Upgrade pedestrian curb ramps on sidewalks.
- Replace guardrail.
- Place new pavement markings.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2027.
Traffic Impacts
Motorists are expected to encounter:
- Lane closures controlled by flagging for road resurfacing.
- Lane closures controlled by temporary signals for bridge work.
- Shoulder closures for the box culvert extension.
- A detour for the replacement of the pedestrian underpass using WIS 29 and WIS 178.
