Overview
This proposed WisDOT project will resurface WIS 38 between Linwood Road and Dunkelw Road in Racine County. This project also includes the construction of two new roundabouts at the 4 Mile Road and 5 Mile Road intersections with WIS 38. Both intersections are included in the top five percent of the most severe crash sites in the state.
Proposed Improvements:
- Resurface WIS 38 between Linwood Road and Dunkelow Road
- Remove and replace cross culverts along WIS 38 within project limits
- Construct single-lane roundabouts at 4 Mile Road and 5 Mile Road intersections with WIS 38

Schedule
This project will be completed over the course of two construction seasons.
Utility work, tree clearing operations, cross culvert replacement, and WIS 38 resurfacing work is scheduled for 2026. Detours will be posted.
Roundabout construction at the 4 Mile Road and 5 Mile Road intersections is scheduled for 2027.
The 4 Mile Road roundabout will be constructed first. The 5 Mile Road roundabout will be constructed after the 4 Mile Road roundabout is completed. Only one intersection will be closed at a time.
All work is anticipated to be completed in 2027.
