Project overview

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is developing a pavement replacement and resurfacing project to improve approximately 16 miles of WIS 82 in the Village of La Farge, Town of Forest, Town of Hillsboro, Town of Stark, and Town of Union in Vernon County. The project extends from the Kickapoo River to WIS 33.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Pavement replacement and resurfacing
  • Concrete deck overlay
  • Replace or adjust guardrail to meet current standards
  • Upgrade various curb ramps in the Village of La Farge to meet ADA requirements
  • One culvert replacement

Schedule

Traffic impacts/detours

WIS 82 from the Kickapoo River to WIS 131 (S. State Street), in the Village of La Farge, will be open to through traffic and constructed using flagging operations. The deck overlay on the bridge over the Kickapoo River just west of the Village of La Farge will utilize temporary traffic signals and a one-lane roadway to maintain traffic on WIS 82.

WIS 82 from WIS 131 (S. State Street) to WIS 33 will be closed to through traffic during construction.

  • Short-term full closures (anticipated to be less than one week) of N Maple St, N Elm St, N Oak St, and N Cherry St are anticipated to replace the curb ramps and make other improvements. The side road closures are anticipated to be completed one intersection at a time.
  • A short-term full closure (anticipated to be approximately one week) and a short-term single lane road with a stop sign are anticipated for WIS 82 to replace the culvert pipe under WIS 82 just east of N Elm St.

A signed detour will be provided on WIS 131, WIS 56 and WIS 80 while WIS 82 is under construction.
