Location
The proposed project includes structures in the St. Croix County town of Pleasant Valley and Trempealeau County town of Sumner:
- County J bridge over I-94 southeast of Roberts.
- East- and westbound I-94 bridges over County NN/Buffalo River State Trail.
- East- and westbound I-94 bridges over the north fork of the Buffalo River.
- The interstate bridges are north of Osseo.
Overview
Built between 2016 and 2020, the structures need preventive maintenance to extend the life of each. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will:
- Clean and make repairs on the existing concrete bridge decks.
- Place a thin polymer overlay over the decks.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.
Traffic Impacts
During work, I-94 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter:
- Lane closures controlled by flagging on County J.
- Single-lane closures during off-peak travel times on I-94.
- A reduction in speed from 70 mph to 55 mph on the interstate in work zones.
